Ideas and bug reports

Email contact@gramshift.com in English or Japanese. Ideas for new effects, color themes and anything else are welcome, and every message is read; we do not guarantee a reply time. For a bug, please include your Windows version (Settings > System > About), your Stream Deck app version and model, the effect you use, and a screenshot of a Visualizer key's settings page (its Status line says what the plugin hears).

Get started

  1. In the Stream Deck app, find Audio Visualizer for Windows in the action list and drag Visualizer onto a key.
  2. Put it on every key you want in the picture. The quick way: right-click the key, Copy, then right-click each other key and Paste. A full page gives the biggest picture, but a single row or any group of keys works too.
  3. Play some music. The keys join into one picture by their position on the device and move with the sound.
  4. Press any Visualizer key to switch to the next effect. Open a key's settings to choose the effect, the colors and the rest.

Settings

The settings are shared: every Visualizer key on every page and every Stream Deck shows the same effect and colors, and a change on one key changes them all.

SettingWhat it does
EffectBars (a spectrum from low notes on the left to high notes on the right, with falling peaks), Mirror (the same bars growing up and down from the middle), Wave (the waveform), Meter (a needle meter: the white needle is the left channel, the colored needle the right), Ring (spokes around a circle that grows with the bass), Sparks (sparks rise with the loudness and burst on the beat).
ColorsNeon, Sunset, Ocean, Lime, Rainbow, Studio (green to red, like a studio meter) or Mono.
FramesHow often the picture moves: 5, 8 or 10 times per second. Elgato's guideline for keys is up to 10 pictures per second.
SensitivityHow big the picture gets. The level adjusts itself to the loudness, so quiet and loud songs both fill the keys; High shows more of the quiet parts, Low keeps only the loud parts.
MotionSmooth: bars fall slowly. Snappy: they fall fast and follow every hit.
Key pressWhat a press of a Visualizer key does: Next effect, Next colors, or Pause / go on. While paused the plugin does not listen and the keys show PAUSED; any press goes on.
When quietWhat the keys show when nothing plays: a Calm picture (the effect at rest) or Black keys.
Listen toWhich sound output the picture follows. Auto (any output with sound) is the default; the list also names every sound output of your PC and, with Elgato Wave Link 3, its mixes (Wave Link: Personal Mix, Stream Mix, Chat Mix), so you can choose one. See What it listens to.

Visualizer Switch

A second action for a key outside the picture. Its own setting On press chooses what a press does: Next effect, Next colors or Pause / go on. Because all Visualizer keys share one set of settings, a press changes every Visualizer key on every page and every Stream Deck. The key shows what it changes and what that is now (for example EFFECT / BARS), and NO VISUALIZER while no Visualizer key is on the screen; a press then changes nothing. Visualizer keys keep their own Key press setting.

What it listens to

Flashing light

The keys show moving colors that follow the music. If moving or flashing light bothers you, choose 5 per second, Smooth motion and a calm theme such as Ocean or Mono, or pause it with a key press.

Privacy

The sound is measured in memory, a few times per second, only to draw the picture: how loud each range of notes is, the shape of the wave, and the left and right level. No sound is recorded, saved or sent anywhere, and the plugin never changes your volume, mute or default device. Full details: Privacy Policy.

Troubleshooting

The keys showWhat it means
A calm picture that does not move while music playsOpen a Visualizer key's settings: the Status line says which output the keys follow. With Listen to set to Auto, the keys show the output that plays; if they still do not move, pick your output or Wave Link mix in Listen to. If you chose one, check that the music plays there, or set Listen to back to Auto. If the volume of that output is very low, turn it up.
USING AUTOThe output chosen in Listen to is not connected right now. The keys follow Auto until it is back; choose another output if it was removed for good.
NO OUTPUTWindows has no sound output right now. Connect or enable one; the keys pick it up automatically.
CHECK OUTPUTThe output could not be opened (for example another app holds it in exclusive mode, or the driver uses a sound format the plugin does not read). Choose another output, or close the app that holds it, then press a key to try again.
PRESS TO STARTThe plugin's small sound reader stopped several times in a row. Press any Visualizer key to start it again.
PAUSEDPaused by a key press. Press any Visualizer key to go on.
Parts of the picture are missingOnly keys with the Visualizer action show the picture. Paste it onto the empty keys.

Compatibility

Windows 10 or later (tested on Windows 11), Stream Deck 6.9 or later. Works on keys; the picture uses as many keys as you give it. Works with Elgato Wave Link 3 (its Personal, Stream and Chat Mix) and other setups with several sound outputs (Listen to: Auto, or choose the output or mix).
