Contact

Email contact@gramshift.com in English or Japanese. We reply within 7 business days, usually sooner. Please include your Windows version, your Stream Deck app version, your Automobilista 2 version, the text of the "Status" line in the key's settings, and, if possible, a photo or screenshot of the key. Ideas for new keys are welcome too.

Getting started

  1. In Automobilista 2 open Options > System and set Shared Memory to Project CARS 2. You do this once; the game then shares its live race data with tools on your PC while a session runs.
  2. Drag the keys you want from the plugin's category onto your Stream Deck.
  3. Drive. The keys show your car as soon as you are on track.
  4. Optional: enter a Key to send in a key's settings (for example F13 or Ctrl+Shift+P) and give the same key to a control in the game's settings (for example TC, ABS or brake bias up or down, or a pit request). Pressing the Stream Deck key then presses that key in the game.

The keys

KeyShowsSettings
FuelFuel in the tank with a bar, the laps it lasts, and the fuel used per lap (the average of your last laps; laps with a pit lane visit or a refill are left out). Until one lap has been measured: "after one lap". In a race the laps of fuel are checked against the laps still to go (in a timed race the leader takes the flag at the first line after the time is up, plus the extra laps the race adds, and you at the first line you cross after that: counted from where the leader is and your average lap time, so a leader already on the next lap can add a lap for you): red with "SHORT 1.4 LAPS" when the fuel will not reach the finish, yellow with less than one lap to spare. In practice and qualifying: red under one lap, yellow under three.Litres or US gallons
TyresThe four tyres in their corners (front on top) as colors, with the compound when its name fits: wear (the game's own wear value x 100: 0 = new, around 50 a tyre is worn out; green under 10, yellow under 20, orange under 40, then red), tread temperature (the average across the tread), tyre temperature, or pressure.Wear, tread temperature, tyre temperature (°C or °F) or pressure (psi, kPa or bar)
Lap TimesThe live delta to your best lap (green when you are ahead of it, red when behind), the last lap and the best lap. Until there is a best lap to compare with: the current lap time and "no Δ yet". A lap the game marks invalid is never the lap the delta compares with, and the current lap time turns red on it.Big number: delta to my best lap, or the current lap time
PositionYour position and the number of cars in the session. In a race: the time gaps the game gives to the car ahead (▲) and behind (▼) in seconds, or the laps when the car one place ahead or behind in the standings is a lap or more away, and LEADER when you lead. In practice and qualifying: the lap and the session. A drive-through or stop and go to serve is shown in orange.—
SessionTime left (h:mm:ss; -- until the clock of a timed session starts) or the lap of a lap race with the laps to go (NO TIME LIMIT when the session has none), the session (practice, test, qualifying, formation lap, race, time trial), and the flag: BLUE FLAG, YELLOW, DOUBLE YELLOW, RED FLAG, BLACK FLAG, WARNING (black and white), DAMAGE FLAG (black with an orange disc), SLOW CAR, FINAL LAP, CHEQUERED.—
Pit & StintON TRACK, PIT LANE, PIT BOX; LIMITER while the pit limiter is on; laps and driving time of the current stint; then PIT REQUESTED when a stop is asked for, DRIVE-THROUGH or STOP & GO when you have a penalty to serve (DRIVE-THROUGH also when the game sends you through because your pit spot is taken), or the lap of a mandatory pit stop.—
TC / ABS / Brake BiasThe traction control level and the ABS level of the car (OFF at 0, -- when the car has none), and the brake bias in percent to the front.—

Every key has the same press settings: Key to send, Only while the game is the active window (on by default) and Game program (default AMS2AVX.exe and AMS2.exe, the game with and without AVX).

Messages on the keys

MessageWhat it means
NO GAME · Shared Mem PC2The game's live data is not there: Automobilista 2 is not running, or its Shared Memory setting is off or set to another mode. Set Options > System > Shared Memory to Project CARS 2. The keys find the game within about a second after it starts.
LOADINGThe game is starting and has not written its data yet.
NO SESSION · REPLAYYou are in the menu, or a replay is playing.
VIEWING (dimmed key, amber frame)The game shows another car: you are spectating, or in the in-race menu with another car on screen. The keys keep the last values of your car, dimmed, and measure nothing until your car is back. Before you have driven in the session the key only says VIEWING.
NO CARThe game has no car in view. As with VIEWING, the keys keep the last values of your car, dimmed.
PAUSED (dimmed key, amber frame)The game is paused. The last values stay readable but dimmed.
STALE (dimmed key, amber frame)The game's data has not changed for 3 seconds: the game is loading, or stopped.
UNSUPPORTED (red)The data does not look like what this plugin reads. "data version 9 / not AMS2": another game that shares its data under the same name is running; this plugin reads Automobilista 2 only. "data changed": a game update changed the data. The keys show no numbers then. Please tell us.
READ ERROR (red)Windows refused to let the plugin read the game's data. If you run the game as administrator, run the Stream Deck app the same way, or run both normally.
STINT --The plugin has not yet seen your car leave the pit lane (or wait on the grid before a start, or start a race after a formation lap) in this session, so the stint start is unknown. It starts counting at your next pit exit. It also goes back to STINT -- when the keys were away from your Stream Deck (another page) long enough that a pit stop could have happened in between.

Questions

Which Shared Memory setting do I need?

Project CARS 2, in Options > System. With None or Project CARS 1 the game does not share the data this plugin reads, and the keys say NO GAME. The UDP settings next to it are not used and can stay as they are, so tools that use UDP keep working.

Why does the fuel key need a lap first?

Fuel per lap is measured from your own laps in this session, not guessed: one full lap without a pit lane visit is needed. A new session, track or car starts the measurement again, so a number from another session is never shown. Switching to another Stream Deck page and back within about 45 seconds loses nothing; a lap that was not all seen (keys away for longer) is not counted.

Why does the Lap Times key say "no Δ yet"?

The delta compares you with your best lap of this session at the same point of the lap, so the plugin needs to have seen that best lap from line to line. Drive a lap that the game makes your best lap while the key is on your Stream Deck. If you set a better lap while the keys were away, the delta waits for your next best lap. A restart starts a new session: the best lap of the race before is not used.

Are the gaps for my class?

No. The seconds are the time gaps the game itself shares, and the laps are counted against the car one place ahead or behind you in the overall standings, whatever its class.

I press the key and nothing happens in the game.

Open the key's settings and read the Status line: it says the key that was sent, or why it was not. By default keys are sent only while the game is the active window. Give the same key to a control in the game's settings. If you run Automobilista 2 as administrator, Windows blocks keys from Stream Deck: start the game normally. If the Status line says the name of the program in front could not be read, turn off "Only while the game is the active window".

Does it press keys by itself?

No. One press of a Stream Deck key sends one key you chose, as if you pressed it on your keyboard. It never presses anything by itself and has no macros.

Does it change the game or need a mod?

No. It only reads the data the game shares once Shared Memory is set. Nothing is installed into the game folder and nothing is written to the game.
