Ideas and bug reports

Email contact@gramshift.com in English or Japanese. Ideas for new effects and looks are welcome, and every message is read. For a bug, please include your Windows version (Settings > System > About), how many monitors you use and their scale (Settings > System > Display), your Stream Deck app version and model, and a screenshot of the key's settings page (its Status line says what the key is doing).

Get started

1. In the Stream Deck app, find Draw on Screen and Highlight in the action list.
2. Drag the effects you want onto keys: Draw on Screen, Cursor Highlight, Spotlight, Laser Pointer, Click Ripples, Magnifier.
3. Press a key to turn its effect on; press it again to turn it off. The key shows ON in the effect's color while it is on. The first press takes a few seconds while the plugin gets ready; after that keys answer at once.
4. To show the effects to others, share or record your whole screen: the effects are drawn on the screen itself.

Draw on Screen

• Press the key, then draw with the left mouse button, over any app. A thin frame in the pen color shows that you are drawing.
• Your keyboard stays with the app in front while you draw: arrow keys and a presentation remote still turn your slides.
• Shift while you drag: a straight line. Ctrl: an arrow. Ctrl+Shift: a box.
• Right-click takes back the last line. Shift + right-click erases every line.
• Esc once stops drawing and erases the lines. The app in front gets that Esc too: in a slide show it also ends the show, so press the key to stop drawing there.
• Second press of the key, as set in its settings: Stop and erase, or Keep the lines, use the app below: the lines stay on the screen and your clicks go to the app under them (the key says SHOWING). Press again to draw more.
• Tools: Pen or Marker (see-through, wider: for marking text). Widths: thin, medium, thick. Colors: red, yellow, green, blue, pink, orange, white, black.
• Make one key per color or tool, such as a red pen and a yellow marker. While you draw, press another Draw on Screen key to switch to it; your lines stay.

The pointer effects

While these are on, your clicks go to your apps as usual. They work together: for example a highlight and click ripples while you demonstrate an app.

Several keys of one effect work as presets: pressing another Cursor Highlight key switches to its settings, and pressing the one that is on turns it off. Effects stay on when you switch Stream Deck pages, so a page change during a talk keeps your highlight.

Turning everything off without the Stream Deck

Press Esc twice within 0.6 seconds: every effect turns off (the app in front gets the two Esc too). Closing the Stream Deck app also takes every effect off the screen.

Looks

Classic, Neon, Ring, Bars and Solid: the same family as our System Monitor for Windows keys. The key shows the effect in its color while it is on and in gray while it is off.

Limitations

• Screen sharing: share or record the whole screen. Sharing a single app window shows only that window, without the effects.
• Games in exclusive full-screen mode draw over the effects; their borderless (windowed full-screen) mode works.
• The pen takes your clicks while you draw (press its key again, or choose "Keep the lines" in its settings, to click the app below).
• The Magnifier leaves out the plugin's own highlight, spotlight and laser, so its picture stays clean; the pen's lines are magnified too.

Privacy

The plugin draws on your screen and reads the mouse pointer's position, the mouse buttons and the Esc key, only on your PC. It records nothing and sends nothing to GRAMSHIFT or anyone else. Full details: Privacy Policy.

Compatibility

Windows 10 or later (tested on Windows 11), Stream Deck 6.9 or later. Works on keys. No administrator rights needed; nothing else to install.
