Get started

  1. Install the profile from the Marketplace, or double-click the .streamDeckProfile file and choose Install in the Stream Deck app.
  2. Select the profile on your Stream Deck. PREV and NEXT at the bottom right move between the 10 pages. The MORE key opens a folder with more keys of the same page, and BACK returns.
  3. Keep MuseScore Studio in front with a score open, select notes or measures, and press a key.

Questions

A key does nothing.
Check that MuseScore Studio is the active window and that the score (not a panel) has the keyboard focus: click the score once. Most keys need a selection, as the same shortcut does in MuseScore: select a note for pitch, interval, articulation and tuplet keys. To enter new notes with the note and duration keys, press NOTE INPUT first, as in MuseScore. Bend and Grace Bend work on a guitar staff. An open dialog or popup takes the keys until it is closed.

A key does something else.
The keys send MuseScore Studio's default shortcuts. If you changed a shortcut in MuseScore (Preferences > Shortcuts), change that key's Hotkey in the Stream Deck app to match, or reset the shortcut in MuseScore.

Which MuseScore Studio versions?
The keys use the default shortcuts of MuseScore Studio 4.7.5 and 4.6.5, and each key is the same in both.

Keyboard layouts.
No symbol keys of the main keyboard are used. The keys send letters, digits, F-keys, arrow keys, Space, Enter, Esc, Insert, Delete, Home, End, Page Up, Page Down and the numpad keys + - . / (with Ctrl, Shift or Alt); their key codes are the same on Japanese and US layouts, so the profile is made for both. Sharp, flat, dot, grace note and zoom use the numpad keys that MuseScore also accepts. The Stream Deck sends these keys, so no physical numpad is needed. Shortcuts that exist only on symbol keys (for example natural = and hairpins < >) are not included. Shift with an arrow, Home or End key (for example extending the selection) is not included.

Keys that remove or close.
Delete, Cut, Delete Measures (Ctrl+Delete) and Close (Ctrl+W). Undo (Ctrl+Z) brings back what the other three removed.

Mac, Stream Deck XL or Stream Deck +?
This version is for Windows with the 15-key Stream Deck (MK.2). Other devices are not covered in this version.

Compatibility

Tested on Windows 11 with a Japanese keyboard layout.
