The plugin shows on Stream Deck keys whether Windows has marked a restart as pending, the active hours of Windows Update, and how long ago Windows started. To do that it reads a few values from the Windows registry of your PC (listed below) and one counter of Windows. It only reads: it writes nothing to the registry, changes no Windows setting, and does not restart the PC. It does not send anything anywhere, and it does not collect or send any data about you or your PC. It has no account, no online service of its own, no analytics and no advertising.
While a key of the plugin is on the visible Stream Deck page, the plugin reads the following every 2 seconds, and once more when a key is pressed or its settings are open. All of it is under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE in the registry, opened with the right to read values only:
SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate\Auto Update\RebootRequired (the mark Windows Update leaves when it waits for a restart). Only its existence is read, not what is in it.SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Component Based Servicing\RebootPending (the mark of component servicing). Only its existence is read.PendingFileRenameOperations in SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager (files that Windows will replace or delete at the next start). This value holds file paths. The plugin counts the entries and discards them at once: the paths are not kept, shown, logged or sent.SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsUpdate\UX\Settings: ActiveHoursStart, ActiveHoursEnd, SmartActiveHoursState (your active hours, and whether Windows adjusts them by itself).SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate: SetActiveHours, ActiveHoursStart, ActiveHoursEnd (active hours set by a policy, if your PC has one).SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Power: HiberbootEnabled (whether Fast Startup is turned on).GetTickCount64: milliseconds since Windows started) and the clock of your PC.The plugin does not read which updates are installed or waiting, your update history, your files, other programs, window titles, or what you type. It does not contact Windows Update or any Microsoft service.
ms-settings:windowsupdate or ms-settings:windowsupdate-activehours). A press of the Uptime key only reads again.| Data | Where it is processed | Stored by the plugin? |
|---|---|---|
| Whether a restart is marked as pending and by what, whether files are waiting, the active hours, whether Fast Startup is on, the time Windows started, the time of the reading | Read from Windows on your PC; drawn on the key and written into the Status line of the settings page. Both are shown by the Stream Deck app on your PC. | No. Kept in memory until the next reading 2 seconds later. Not written to disk by the plugin, not logged, not sent anywhere. |
The file paths inside PendingFileRenameOperations | Counted in memory on your PC and discarded in the same step | No. Never kept, shown, logged or sent. |
| Key settings (after how many days the Uptime key changes color) | Saved by the Stream Deck app on your PC, like the settings of any other key | Only in your Stream Deck profile on your PC. |
| Technical log | The Stream Deck plugin framework writes a small log file (mainly connection errors) in the plugin's folder on your PC. The plugin writes nothing it read from Windows into it. | On your PC only. It is not sent anywhere. |
| Anything sent to GRAMSHIFT servers | — | Nothing. The plugin has no server of its own and makes no network requests of its own. |
The plugin talks only to the Stream Deck app on the same PC, through a local connection (127.0.0.1) that the Stream Deck app provides to every plugin.
The plugin is sold on the Elgato Marketplace. Purchases, payments and licenses are handled by Elgato (Corsair) and its payment provider under Elgato's own terms and privacy policy. GRAMSHIFT never receives card details. If Elgato provides us with sales records (for example the date, country and amount of a sale), we use them only for accounting and tax.
If you contact us, we receive what you choose to send (for example your email address, your message and any screenshots; a photo of a key or a screenshot of the settings page can show your active hours and when your PC was started). We use it only to answer you. Email to contact@gramshift.com is forwarded by our email forwarding provider (ImprovMX) to a mailbox hosted by Google (Gmail), so those providers process support emails on our behalf.
The plugin works only as a tool on your own computer: GRAMSHIFT does not receive or process anything from it. For sales records and support emails, GRAMSHIFT is the controller. We rely on our legitimate interest in answering requests and on legal obligations (for example tax records). GRAMSHIFT is based in Japan, so this information is processed in Japan and by the providers named above.
You can ask us to access, correct or delete personal information we hold about you, or object to its use, by emailing contact@gramshift.com. If you are in the EEA or the UK, you can also complain to your local data protection authority.
The plugin keeps nothing of its own except its key settings and its log file, on your PC. The log file is in the plugin's own folder. Key settings are held by the Stream Deck app together with your profiles. Support emails are kept only as long as needed to handle the request and meet legal obligations; you can ask us to delete them. Sales records are kept for up to 7 years for accounting and tax.
If the plugin ever starts to send or store other data, this policy will be updated before that change is released, and the date above will change.
