Ideas and bug reports

Email contact@gramshift.com in English or Japanese. Ideas for new readings and looks are welcome, and every message is read. For a bug, please include your Windows version (Settings > System > About), the drive model (shown in the key's Drive list), your Stream Deck app version and a photo or screenshot of the key.

Get started

  1. In the Stream Deck app, find SSD Temp & Wear for Windows in the action list.
  2. Drag Drive Health, Drive Temperature, Data Written or Power-On Hours onto a key. It shows your system drive (the one with C:) right away.
  3. Press the key to show the next drive, or pick the drive in the key's settings. Each key keeps its own drive, by the drive's serial number.
  4. On a Drive Temperature key, choose the Alert at temperature and the unit (°C or °F) if you like. Every key has a Look: Classic, Neon, Ring, Bars or Solid.

Questions

Can Stream Deck show my SSD temperature?

Yes. Add the Drive Temperature key of SSD Temp & Wear for Windows: it shows the drive temperature with a short graph, turns yellow 5 degrees before your alert temperature and red at it. It works with NVMe SSDs, SATA SSDs and SATA hard drives, with no other monitoring program running.

How do I check SSD health on Stream Deck?

Add the Drive Health key. It shows Good, Caution or Bad and the life left in %, from the drive's own SMART data: life left, spare blocks, reallocated and pending sectors, and the warning the drive itself reports.

What do Good, Caution and Bad mean?

ShownWhen
BadThe drive reports a failure warning itself, the spare blocks of an NVMe SSD fell below the drive's own limit, or the life left of a SATA SSD reached 0%. Back up your data now.
CautionLife left is 10% or less (on an NVMe SSD this includes 0%: NVMe drives keep counting wear past their rating), the spare blocks are at the drive's limit, or a hard drive has reallocated, pending or unreadable sectors (the count is shown). Back up and plan a replacement.
GoodNone of the above.

When the health gets worse, the key shows one short alert at that moment; after that its color tells the state.

How much data has my SSD written (TBW)?

The Data Written key shows the total your PC has written to the drive, in TB. Compare it with the endurance rating (TBW) on your drive's data sheet.

Do I need other monitoring software or admin rights?

No. The plugin reads the drive data directly from Windows as a normal user. Nothing else needs to run.

Troubleshooting

The key showsWhat it means
reading…The first reading is coming in (a few seconds).
-- and not foundThe drive chosen for this key is not connected now. Press the key or pick another drive in its settings.
-- and not reportedThe drive does not report this value.
-- and USB: n/aA USB drive; see Limits.
-- and no answerThe drive has not answered for several seconds (busy, failing, or its driver is stuck). Old values are not shown as if they were current. The key shows values again as soon as the drive answers; if it stays like this, back up that drive.
asleepA hard drive is in standby; the last values are shown until it wakes up.

Privacy

The plugin reads drive health numbers from Windows and keeps them in memory on your PC. Nothing is sent anywhere. Full details: Privacy Policy.

Compatibility
