Contact

Email contact@gramshift.com in English or Japanese. We reply within 7 business days, usually sooner. Please include your Windows version, your Stream Deck app version, the game mode you were playing, the text of the "Status" line in the key's settings, and, if possible, a photo or screenshot of the key and of its settings. Ideas for new keys are welcome too.

Getting started

  1. Drag Speed, Fuel / Crew, Engine / Ready Rack and Gear & Flaps from the plugin's category onto keys.
  2. Start War Thunder and join a battle, or start a test flight or test drive. The keys find the game by themselves; there is nothing to set up in the game.
  3. In the hangar the keys say IN HANGAR. As soon as you are in your vehicle, they show its gauges.
  4. Press Speed or Fuel / Crew to switch what the key shows. Units, the fuel warning and the engine temperatures are in each key's settings.

The keys

KeyIn an aircraftIn a tank
SpeedAirspeed (IAS) and altitude. Press: true airspeed (TAS) and Mach. Press again: climb rate (+ up, - down) and altitude. Press again: back to IAS.The gear (N in gray, R in orange, R2 for a second reverse gear), your speed, and the engine rpm, or CRUISE with its step while cruise control is on.
Fuel / CrewThe fuel as a percent of full tanks (a fresh spawn often carries less than full, for example 44%), a bar, and the minutes left at your current burn. The time left is worked out from how fast the fuel went down in the last 30 seconds, so it shows "measuring" for the first seconds of a flight and after a refuel. It turns orange when less than the warning time is left (5 minutes unless you change it) and red with less than half of it. With no fuel left it shows 0:00 and EMPTY in red. Press: the fuel in kilograms and the size of the tanks ("tank 599 kg").Your crew (for example 3/4, orange when someone is missing, red with half or less), and the gunner and the driver: OK, or in orange the number the game sends while that post is not OK (the game does not document what this number counts, so it is shown without a unit). A dash means the game sent a value whose meaning is not known.
Engine / Ready RackOil and water temperature as green, orange and red. With several engines, oil is the highest oil temperature and water the highest water temperature among them, so the two can come from different engines. An air-cooled engine has no water temperature, so only oil is shown. The rounds in the ready rack, in red with EMPTY at 0. A vehicle without a ready rack shows NO READY RACK.
Gear & FlapsLanding gear UP (gray), DOWN (green) or the percent while it moves (orange); flaps in percent with a bar; and the airbrake while it is out.Not used (AIR ONLY).

The keys switch between aircraft and tank by themselves, also when you change vehicles in the middle of a ground battle.

Engine colors

War Thunder does not tell how hot each engine may run, and the limits differ between aircraft. The colors therefore start from a guide: oil hot from 100 °C, water hot from 110 °C, orange from 10 °C below. While the guide is used, the key says "colors: a guide". To use your aircraft's own limits, enter them under Oil hot from and Water hot from in the Engine key's settings, in the unit shown beside the field (°C, or °F if the key is set to °F; switching the unit converts the numbers, so they keep meaning the same temperature).

Messages on the keys

MessageWhat it means
NO GAMEWar Thunder is not running. Start the game; the keys connect by themselves.
NO DATA · game data is offThe game runs but does not make its data available right now. See the next question.
IN HANGARYou are in the hangar or a menu. The keys show your vehicle when a battle, test flight or test drive starts.
WAITING · no vehicleA map is loaded, but the game reports no vehicle of yours right now.
LOADING · game not answeringThe game stopped answering less than 30 seconds ago while its program still runs, for example during a long map load. The keys go on by themselves as soon as it answers; after 30 seconds without an answer they show NO DATA.
STALE (amber frame, gray values)Not one value from the game has changed for 10 seconds, so the numbers may be old. They stay on the key, grayed out, until a value changes again.
DATA CHANGED · game update? The game answers, but none of the main values (speed, altitude, fuel, or the speed, gear and crew of a tank) is in its data, so the game has probably changed its data in an update. Please tell us.
SHIPShips have no gauges in this plugin.
BAD DATAThe game answers on its port, but what it sends is not data the plugin can read (for example not JSON). The keys show BAD DATA until it can be read again. Please tell us.
WRONG PORTThe port you entered in the key's settings belongs to another program. Leave the port empty so the keys find the game by themselves.
PORT?The port in the key's settings is not a number from 1024 to 65535. Leave it empty, or correct it.
NO SPEED, NO TEMPS, NO FUEL DATA, NO GEAR DATA, NO CREW DATA · not in game dataThe game's data for your current vehicle does not have that value. Other keys go on. If a value you expect is missing on every vehicle, please tell us.
NO READY RACK · this vehicleThe game says your tank has no ready rack.

When a map loads or closes the game stops sending for a few seconds; the keys keep your last values for up to 6 seconds instead of blinking, then show LOADING while the game still runs.

Questions

Why do my keys show NO DATA while I play War Thunder?

The game shares its data through its own map page on your PC, and some game modes and custom battle settings turn that off. To check, open the address shown in the Status line of any key's settings (for example http://127.0.0.1:8111) in a web browser on the same PC while you are in a battle. If the keys have never connected, try http://127.0.0.1:8111, then http://127.0.0.1:9222, then http://127.0.0.1:10333: if the game's map page appears, the data is on and the keys should show your vehicle (if not, send us the Status line). If the page does not appear, the game has the data off for this mode; the keys come back by themselves when it is on again.

Does it press keys or play for me?

No. It only shows values. It never sends keys, mouse input or commands to the game.

Does it show enemies or other players?

No. It shows only your own vehicle.

Can I see the reload time, the ammunition count or damage of my tank?

No. The game does not report these for tanks, so the plugin cannot show them.

Does it work on PlayStation or Xbox?

No. It needs War Thunder on the same Windows PC as the Stream Deck.

Does it use another port than 8111?

With the port field empty, the keys try 8111, 9222 and 10333 by themselves and skip other programs on those ports (9222 is also used by web browsers for debugging). The Status line in a key's settings shows the port and address the keys use. Enter a port only if the game uses another one on your PC.

Can I use knots and feet?

Yes. In the Speed key's settings choose km/h, mph or knots, and meters or feet (the climb rate is then in ft/min). The Engine key has °C or °F.
