|---|---|
| NO GAME | Elite Dangerous is not running. Start the game; the keys follow it by themselves. |
| MENU | The game is at the main menu. The keys show your ship when a commander is loaded. |
| WAITING | The game has not written your ship's status yet. |
| STALE | The status the game left is older than the commander you loaded. The keys wait for the game to write it again, which it does as soon as anything changes on your ship. |
| BAD DATA | The game's status could not be read for 10 seconds. Please tell us. |
| NO DATA | The game's journal folder was not found. Start the game once, or enter the folder in the key's settings (see below). |
| NO KEY | This control has no keyboard key in your game's control preset. See the next question. |
| SET TO HOLD | In the game this control is set to Hold instead of Toggle, so a tap would switch it on and off at once. Nothing is sent. Set it to Toggle in the game's Options > Controls. |
| HOLD KEY | The control's key is set to be held in the game. Add a key without hold. |
| KEY? | The control is on a key the plugin does not send: a special key (for example a G-key modifier, Fn, a Mac Command key, Power or Sleep), or a symbol key of a keyboard layout the plugin has no table for, or a symbol your bindings' keyboard layout has no key for. The key's settings say which. Letters, numbers, F-keys, arrows, the numpad, modifiers and media keys are sent with every layout. |
| NO BINDS | The game's control settings were not found. Start the game once with the plugin's keys on your Stream Deck. |
| IN SRV · ON FOOT · IN FIGHTER · IN TAXI · not here | This control is not used where you are (for example the landing gear on foot, or the FSD in a fighter). Nothing is sent. |
| MAP OPEN · PANEL OPEN · STATION MENU · IN FSS · IN DSS · IN CODEX | A map, panel or menu of the game has the keyboard. Until it is closed this key sends nothing, so the key does not type into that screen. The Panels & Maps key still works. |
The Stream Deck sends keyboard keys, so the control needs a keyboard key in your game's control preset. Controls that are only on your HOTAS, joystick or gamepad, and controls the preset leaves empty (for example night vision in some presets), show NO KEY. In the game, open Options > Controls, find the control, and add a keyboard key as its primary or secondary binding (your HOTAS binding can stay). The key picks up the change by itself within a few seconds.
No. The plugin reads the preset you play with: the presets the game ships (keyboard and mouse, HOTAS models), your custom presets, and different presets for ship, SRV and on foot.
The game saves your keyboard layout in your bindings, and the plugin presses keys the way the game reads them in that layout, whatever layout your PC uses right now. The presets the game ships are saved as US keyboard: there, for example, the FSS key is the key two to the right of L (' on a US keyboard, : on a Japanese one).
Open the key's settings and read the Status line: it says the key that was sent, or why it was not. By default keys are sent only while the game is the active window, so clicking another window first stops them. While a map, panel or menu of the game is open, only the Panels & Maps key sends. If you run Elite Dangerous as administrator, Windows blocks keys from Stream Deck: start the game normally. Running Stream Deck as administrator is not needed.
No. One press of a Stream Deck key sends one key of your own bindings, as if you pressed it on your keyboard. It never presses anything by itself and has no macros.
No. It only reads them.
Enter the folder that holds the game's journal (the folder with Status.json) under Journal folder in the key's settings. The game's control settings folder can be entered under Bindings folder the same way.
No. The game reports overheating and heat warnings, but not a heat percent, shields or hull for your ship, so the plugin cannot show them.
No. It needs Elite Dangerous on the same Windows PC as the Stream Deck.
Windows 10 or later, Stream Deck app 6.9 or later, Elite Dangerous on PC.
