Tip: put the color name in each photo's alt text or file name (for example `tote-forest-back.jpg`), and Auto assign places it under that color.
To turn it off for one product, switch its Status off in the app: that product shows all photos again. To turn it off for the whole store, switch off Color photos under App embeds in the theme editor and click Save.
Settings of the app embed (theme editor, App embeds, Color photos): Show common media with every color (turn it off to show only the chosen color's own photos) and Hide other colors before the page finishes loading (avoids a flash of every color's photos while the page loads).
Install Iromi Color Variant Images, click Enable app embed and save the theme editor, then open a product in the app, click Auto assign and Save. When a shopper picks a color, the product gallery shows only that color's photos and the common media, such as a size chart.
Shopify gives each variant one variant image. With Iromi Color Variant Images you assign as many product photos as you like to each color, for example front, back, close-up and on-model, and the gallery shows that set when the color is picked.
No. The app works through an app embed in the theme editor and does not change your theme files. Switch the embed off, or uninstall the app, and your product pages show all photos again, as before.
Yes. We have tested it on Dawn and on Horizon, Shopify's current default theme, inside each theme's own gallery and slider. If photos do not hide on your theme, email contact@gramshift.com with your theme's name and we will look at it.
It checks each photo in this order: a color name in the alt text, a color name in the file name, then the variant photos and photo order (photos after a color's variant photo belong to that color until the next color's variant photo). Size charts and photos that match no color stay in Common media. You see the result before you save and can move any photo by hand.
Photos that do not belong to one color, such as a size chart or a lifestyle photo. They show with every color, after the color's own photos.
That color shows all photos, so the gallery is never empty.
Yes. The app only hides photos in the gallery. It never changes the variant pickers, so shoppers choose sizes and colors as before.
That theme setting works with the one variant image each variant has: every other photo still shows for every color. Iromi Color Variant Images lets each color keep its own set of several photos, and keeps shared photos for every color.
The assignments are saved on the product, so changing prices, stock or text does not touch them. Photos that are replaced or imported again get new IDs in Shopify; the app marks those products Needs attention, and Auto assign places the new photos again.
Yes, on Pro. Select products in the app (or none, for every product with colors that is not set up yet) and click Bulk auto assign. Products you already assigned are left as they are.
The app embed goes away with the app, so your product pages show all photos at once, as before. Nothing was written into your theme files, so there is nothing to clean up, and Shopify stops the Pro charge.
Yes. Colors are matched by their place in the color list, so a translated color name still shows the right photos.
No. It asks for one permission, write_products, to read your products and photos and to save the color assignments on your products. It does not access orders or customers.
Email contact@gramshift.com in English or Japanese. We answer within 2 business days (Japan time). If photos do not hide the way you expect, please tell us the name of your theme and the product. Ideas for new features are welcome at the same address (the app's Help section has Contact support and Request a feature buttons).
