Please include your Windows version, your Stream Deck app version, the mouse software you use (if any), and a photo or screenshot of the key and of its settings (the Status line says what Windows reports).

Switch between two speeds (Mouse Speed)

For example a slow, precise speed for photo editing, CAD or pixel art, and a fast speed for big screens and several monitors.

  1. Install the plugin from the Elgato Marketplace. In the Stream Deck app, find Mouse Speed Switcher in the action list and drag Mouse Speed onto a key.
  2. In its settings, set Set A and Set B: a name, a Pointer speed (1 slowest to 20 fastest, 10 is the Windows default) and Pointer precision (on, off, or do not change). Out of the box: Precise = 5 with precision off, Fast = 14 with precision on.
  3. Press the key: it goes to the other set. The key shows the name of the set in use (green frame), the speed now and whether pointer precision is on.
  4. If the mouse is set as neither set (for example after a change in Windows Settings), the key says OTHER and where a press goes; a press goes to Set A.
  5. Only one set: choose not used (A only) as the speed of Set B. A press then sets A.
  6. If Set B has the same speed as Set A and its pointer precision is the same or do not change, the two sets do the same thing; the key then uses Set A only and the Status line says so in red.

Other actions

What the keys show

KeyMeaning
Green frameThe mouse is set as this set (Mouse Speed), pointer precision is on (Pointer Precision), or the wheel is at one of the two values (Scroll Lines).
Gray, OTHERThe mouse is set as neither set. The bottom line says what a press sets.
Red, FAILED, "not changed"Windows refused the change. Nothing was changed. After a few seconds the key shows the values Windows reports.
Red, PARTIAL, "precision refused"Windows took the new speed but refused pointer precision, so the change was only partly made. After a few seconds the key shows the values Windows reports; press again or check the setting in Windows.
Red, FAILED, "not applied"Windows accepted the change, but reports another value right after it. Usually another program (for example mouse software) sets its own value. Close it or set the speed there.
Red, --, "not readable"Windows did not report the setting. The plugin shows no number rather than a wrong one.
Red, --, "reinstall plugin"The plugin could not load its Windows part. Remove the plugin in the Stream Deck app and install it again from the Elgato Marketplace.

Questions

Does it change my aim sensitivity in shooters?
No. Games that read the mouse directly (Raw Input, as most first-person shooters do) ignore the Windows pointer speed and pointer precision, so their in-game sensitivity does not change. Set it in the game. The plugin helps in games that use the Windows cursor (common in strategy, MOBA, MMO and card games) and everywhere on the desktop.

Where is this setting in Windows?
Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Mouse (Mouse pointer speed, scroll lines), and Additional mouse settings > Pointer Options ("Select a pointer speed", "Enhance pointer precision"). The plugin changes the same settings and the Settings app shows the new values.

Does it change the DPI of my mouse?
No. DPI is a setting of the mouse itself and is changed by the mouse maker's software. The plugin changes the Windows pointer speed, which applies to every mouse on the PC.

My mouse software changes the speed back.
Some mouse apps set the Windows pointer speed themselves when they start or when a profile changes. The key then shows FAILED "not applied", or the new value comes back after a moment. Turn that option off in the mouse app.

Does the change stay after a restart?
Yes. The plugin saves the change in your Windows user profile, as Windows Settings does.

Does it work on Mac?
No. This plugin is for Windows 10 and 11 only.
