Anyone who has a calendar link can read that calendar. Keep it to yourself. If it was shared by mistake, reset it in your calendar's settings (Google: "Reset" next to the secret address; Outlook: unpublish and publish again) and paste the new link.
Settings of each key: Amber before (5, 10 or 15 minutes, or never), All-day events (hide or show), Clock (by your region (the usual time format of the region set in Windows), 12-hour or 24-hour) and Look (Classic, Neon, Ring, Bars or Solid). The calendars are checked about every 5 minutes while a key of the plugin is on screen.
| Key | Meaning |
|---|---|
Set up, "Add a calendar" | No calendar link yet. Paste one into the key's settings. |
"…", Loading | The calendar is being downloaded. This takes a second or two. |
| A time, "in 25m" and a title | Your next event and how long until it starts. |
| Amber key | The event starts within the minutes you set under Amber before. |
Red key, Now | The event is starting now. |
| Green key, "40m left" and a bar | The event is running. The bar shows how much of it has passed. |
| A camera mark | The event has a meeting link (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Webex and other known meeting sites). |
Join | Join Meeting: the meeting starts within 10 minutes or is running, and a press joins it. |
Opening | The meeting link is being opened in your browser or meeting app. |
No link | This event has no meeting link, so there is nothing to open. |
No events, "in 31 days" | Nothing in your calendars from now to 31 days ahead. |
No links, "no meeting links" | Join Meeting: no event with a meeting link from now to 31 days ahead. |
"3 events" / Free | Timeline: how many events are in the hours the band covers, or nothing there. |
All day | An all-day event (shown only when All-day events is set to show). |
| A small amber dot | A calendar could not be loaded just now. The key keeps showing the events it loaded last, and the plugin tries again. |
If a calendar never loaded, the key shows Error with a short word under it. If it loaded before, the key keeps its events with a small amber dot. Either way, the Status line in the settings says what happened and when the calendar was last loaded.
| Word | What happened | What to do |
|---|---|---|
Check the link | The text in the box is not a web address. | Paste the whole link. It starts with https:// or webcal:// and usually ends in .ics. |
Link refused | The calendar site refused the link (for example 401 or 403). | The secret link was reset, or sharing was turned off. Copy the link again from your calendar's settings. |
Link expired | Nothing is at this link any more (404 or 410). | The link was reset or the calendar was deleted. Copy the new link. |
Not a calendar | The link opens a web page, not a calendar file. | Use the iCal (.ics) link from the calendar's settings, not the address of the page in your browser. |
Site error | The calendar site answered with an error. | Nothing: the plugin tries again by itself, waiting a little longer each time. |
Offline | The site could not be reached. | Check that the PC is online. The plugin tries again by itself. |
No answer | The site did not answer within 20 seconds. | Nothing: the plugin tries again by itself. |
Too large | The calendar file is larger than 20 MB. | Use a smaller calendar, for example a separate calendar for your meetings. |
The plugin checks every 5 minutes, but your calendar site updates the shared link on its own schedule: from minutes (often Google) to a few hours (often Outlook). The key shows the change once the site has updated the link.
Some work and school accounts turn off publishing calendars. Ask your administrator whether it can be turned on for you.
iCloud has no secret link, only a public one: anyone who has that link can see the calendar. Turn off "Public Calendar" in iCloud to stop sharing it; the key then shows Link refused or Link expired.
Links to known meeting sites only, such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Webex, GoTo Meeting, Whereby, Jitsi, Amazon Chime and Slack huddles. Other links in an event are not opened from a key.
