Contact

Email contact@gramshift.com in English or Japanese. We reply within 7 business days, usually sooner. Please include your Windows version, your Stream Deck app version, the game and its version, the text of the "Status" line in the key's settings, and, if possible, a photo or screenshot of the key and of its settings. Ideas for new keys are welcome too.

Set up the game (once)

  1. Start the game once and go past its first screen, so it creates its settings files. Then close the game.
  2. Drag Stage, Gear, Brakes or Car & Split onto a key and open its settings.
  3. With the game closed, press Set up EA SPORTS WRC or Set up DiRT Rally 2.0. The game reads these settings only when it starts, and DiRT Rally 2.0 can write its settings file when it closes and undo the change, so close the game first (if it was running, close it and press again). The plugin finds the game's settings in your Documents folder (also when Windows keeps Documents in OneDrive) and makes the game send its telemetry to the plugin. A copy of the original file is kept next to it. The line under the buttons says what was done.
  4. Start the game and drive a stage. The keys show your car as soon as the stage starts.

What the button changes:

If one of the files cannot be written (for example, it is read-only), the files already changed in that press are put back, the copies and temporary files are removed, and the line under the buttons says that nothing was changed.

Prefer to do it by hand? Close the game first. For DiRT Rally 2.0 set <udp enabled="true" extradata="3" ip="127.0.0.1" port="20790" delay="1" />. For EA SPORTS WRC add this line to "packets" in config.json, written like the game's own lines: { "structure": "wrc", "packet": "session_update", "ip": "127.0.0.1", "port": 20790, "frequencyHz": 60, "bEnabled": true }. frequencyHz is required: 60 sends up to 60 times a second, -1 every frame, and 0 sends nothing. Another port works too: enter the same port in the keys. This line runs Stage, Gear and Brakes. Car & Split also needs the plugin's own list of values (udp\racedeck.json) and a second line for it, which only the set-up button writes; set up by hand, Car & Split shows NO CAR DATA.

After a game update, EA SPORTS WRC may create a new config.json (the game keeps the old one as a backup). If the keys show NO DATA after an update, press the set-up button again.

The keys

KeyShows
StageTime on the stage, the distance to the finish (km, or miles in the settings), the stage length and a bar of how far you are. FINISH in green past the finish line.
GearThe gear (R in orange, N in gray), ten shift lights and your speed. In EA SPORTS WRC the lights follow the game's own shift lights; all blue = shift now. DiRT Rally 2.0 sends no shift point, so its lights light up from 75 % to 96 % of the engine's maximum RPM.
BrakesThe four brake temperatures, front brakes on top: blue below 150 °C (cold), green, orange from 85 % of the "hot" temperature, red from it. The "hot" temperature is 650 °C unless you change it in the key's settings (in °F with imperial units; switching the units converts the number, so it stays the same temperature, and the status line shows it in both units).
Car & Split (EA SPORTS WRC)Each tyre: OK, PUNCT. (puncture) or BURST. Below: the split you just passed, compared with your best finished run on the same stage with the same car class (green = faster, red = slower; the split time itself until there is a best run). At the finish: your time with penalties, purple when it is a new best. The game updates the finish time a moment after the line, so the key shows FINISH with "..." for about two seconds and then the time; only that time is saved. Best runs are kept on this PC; clear one stage and car class, or all, under Best times in the key's settings (press twice to confirm). If the key was added, or the plugin started, part-way through a stage, that run shows times only (SPLIT without a number, no comparison) and is not saved as a best, because the splits before it were not seen.
Game ControlA key for headlights, reset vehicle, change view, pause or your own control: choose it in the settings and enter the key you assigned in the game.
Rallycross (DiRT Rally 2.0)In rallycross the game sends each lap like a stage. When it reports more than one lap, the Stage key shows LAP with the lap number (for example LAP 2/4) and the time and distance of the current lap, not of the whole race.

Send a game key with a press

  1. In the key's settings, type a Key to send, for example F13, Ctrl+Shift+E, Num5 or Alt+Up. Keys the game does not use otherwise (F13 to F24, or a combination) avoid clashes. Every key of this plugin can send a key; the display keys keep showing their values.
  2. In the game's controls settings, assign the same key to the control you want (for example Headlights, Reset Vehicle, Change View or Pause).
  3. Only while the game is the active window is on by default: the key is sent only while the program in front is WRC.exe or dirtrally2.exe, so a press never types into another window. If your game's program has another file name, enter it under Game program (several names separated by commas). The status line in the settings shows the name of the program that was in front. If Windows does not tell the plugin which program is in front (a game running as administrator, or protected by anti-cheat, can hide it), nothing is sent and the status line says so; to send anyway, turn the option off.

Keys are sent the way a keyboard sends them, held for a short moment and released. Windows does not let a program running as a normal user send keys to a program running as administrator: if the game runs as administrator, the keys do not arrive.

What the keys say

Key showsMeaning
NO DATA, set up in settingsNothing has arrived on the port yet: press the set-up button in the key's settings and restart the game, or check that the port in the keys is the port in the game.
NO DATA, paused or menuData stopped for 3 seconds. The games send only while you drive a stage, so this is normal in menus, during a pause and between stages.
NO STAGEData arrives but you are not on a stage.
NO CAR DATA (Car & Split)Stage data arrives but the second line of EA SPORTS WRC does not: press Set up EA SPORTS WRC again and restart the game.
EA WRC ONLY (Car & Split)DiRT Rally 2.0 does not send tyre states or splits.
UNSUPPORTED, N bytesPackets arrive that the plugin does not read. In DiRT Rally 2.0 set extradata to 3. After a game update the packets may have changed: the plugin shows no numbers rather than wrong ones; please contact us.
PORT BUSYAnother program already uses the port. Close it, or enter another port in the key's settings and press the set-up button again.
PORT?The port in the key's settings is not a number from 1024 to 65535.
