Contact

Email contact@gramshift.com in English or Japanese. We reply within 7 business days, usually sooner. Please include your Windows version, your Stream Deck app version, the program you want to show (for example Windows Terminal or Visual Studio Code) and the text of the "Now" line in the key's settings. Please check screenshots for private content before you send them.

Peek Window

  1. Install the plugin from the Elgato Marketplace. In the Stream Deck app, find Window Peek for Windows in the action list and drag Peek Window onto a key.
  2. Open the window you want to see. Select the key and choose the window in Window (press Refresh the list if it is not there). The key remembers the Program and the Title contains text, so it finds the window again after a restart. Shorten the title text when the title changes (for example a terminal shows the running command in its title), or leave it empty to show any window of that program.
  3. Choose the Part (whole window, a half, the bottom third, the middle), how the Picture fits the key, and how often a New picture is taken (0.5 to 30 seconds; default 1 second).
  4. Press the key to bring the window to the front. Before that, the plugin checks that the window is still the one the key is set to; if it is not (the window closed and Windows gave its number to another window), nothing is brought up and the key shows an alert.

Screen Region

  1. Drag Screen Region onto a key. Enter Left (x), Top (y), Width and Height in screen pixels, or press Top-left corner from the mouse, move the mouse to that corner within 3 seconds, then do the same with Bottom-right corner from the mouse. On more than one monitor, positions left of or above the main monitor are negative.
  2. Press the key to pause: the last picture stays, dimmed, and no picture is taken until you press again.

Alert When Idle

  1. Drag Alert When Idle onto a key and choose what to Watch: a window (as in Peek Window) or a screen region. Choose Light up after no change for (5 seconds to 10 minutes; default 30 seconds).
  2. The key shows WAITING until the window changes, then ACTIVE. When it has not changed for the chosen time, the key lights up (blinking amber frame, IDLE and for how long) and shows one alert. If it changes again, it goes back to ACTIVE by itself.
  3. Press the key to clear it and bring the window to the front. It lights up again after the next change and quiet time.
  4. A window that was already still when the key appeared does not light up; the first pictures only learn how the window looks. A blinking text cursor, or anything that switches between a few looks, is not counted as a change. Changes that count: Only big changes ignores small updates such as a clock; Any change reacts to a single changed spot.
  5. To watch only the part where output appears (and ignore, for example, a clock in a status bar), choose a Part, or watch a screen region instead.

Common questions

The key showsWhat to do
MINIMIZEDWindows can not show a minimized window. Restore it; it may stay behind other windows. (The last picture is removed from the key while it is minimized.)
PROTECTEDThe app asks Windows not to be captured (some password managers, chat and banking apps). The plugin respects that and never shows it.
An all-black pictureSome apps drawn with the graphics card, videos with copy protection and full-screen games can not be captured. Try a Screen Region key on the same area; some can not be captured at all.
NOT FOUNDNo open window matches the program and title. Open it, or choose it again in the list.
NO RESPONSEThe window is not responding; it is shown again when it responds.
OFF SCREENThe region is outside every monitor; check the numbers.
ERRORThe helper (Windows PowerShell) could not start or answer. The "Now" line in the key's settings says why. Some company PCs block Windows PowerShell or its Add-Type command; then the plugin can not work there.
The window does not come to the frontWindows sometimes refuses to let a background program bring a window up; the key shows an alert and the settings say so. Click the window in the taskbar.
