Ideas and bug reports
Email contact@gramshift.com in English or Japanese. Ideas for new zones and anything else are welcome, and every message is read; we do not guarantee a reply time. For a bug, please include your Windows version (Settings > System > About), your Stream Deck app version and model, the program whose window you moved, and a screenshot of the key's settings page (its Status line says what the last press did).
Get started
- In the Stream Deck app, find Window Position Keys in the action list.
- Drag Snap Window onto a key and choose where the window goes (Left half is the default).
- Click the window you want to move, then press the key. Press the same key again and the window goes back to where it was.
Snap Window
- Snap to: left, right, top or bottom half; left, middle or right third; left or right two thirds; a quarter (top left, top right, bottom left, bottom right); center; maximize.
- Size (Center only): the window's own size, or 50, 60, 70, 80 or 90% of the screen's width and height.
- Press again (halves only): put it back (the default), or step to the next size: 1/2, 2/3, 1/3, then 1/2 again.
- Screen: the screen the window is on, or a screen you choose. Gap: none, small or large space at the edges of the screen and between zones.
- The visible frame of the window fills the zone. Windows 10 and 11 put an invisible border around most windows; the plugin allows for it, so two windows snapped side by side line up edge to edge. A program that draws its own frame may sit a little differently.
- A maximized or minimized window is made normal first. The window you work in stays in front.
Custom Position
- Unit: percent of the screen, or pixels (screen pixels, as in the display resolution in Windows Settings).
- X and Y count from the top-left corner of the usable area of the screen (the screen without the taskbar). Width and Height are the size of the visible frame. Example: pixels, 0, 0, 1280, 720 gives a visible frame of 1280 x 720 in the top-left corner, handy for a capture window.
- Blank fields use 10, 10, 80, 80 percent, or 0, 0, 1280, 720 pixels. A place larger than the screen is fitted inside it.
Next Screen
- A press sends the window to the next screen, from left to right and round again, or to the previous one (Go to).
- The window keeps its place on the screen: a left half becomes the left half of the other screen. A maximized window is maximized there.
Which window
- The window in front (the default): the window you clicked last.
- A window of a program: choose the program in the list (programs with a window open are listed), and optionally words that its title has (for example
Inbox). The key moves the front-most matching window, even when it is behind other windows or minimized, and the window you work in stays in front.
- The desktop, the taskbar and the Stream Deck app are never moved.
Looks and the key picture
Each key has a Look: Map (a small drawing of the screen and where the window goes), Classic (words), Neon (bright lines on black) and Solid (a bright color). When the window is still where the key put it, the key turns green and says press to undo. Name sets the word on top of the key.
Limits
- A window of a program running as administrator may stay put unless Stream Deck runs as administrator too (a rule of Windows); the key shows
ADMIN.
- Some programs keep a minimum size of their own. Such a window moves to its place but stays larger than the zone; the key says
not exact, and a press puts it back.
- Windows of a fixed size keep their size and go to the middle of the zone.
- A window whose program does not answer is not moved; press again once the program responds.
- A window that fills the whole screen without a title bar (a full-screen game or video) is left as it is; the key shows
FULLSCREEN.
- Windows on other virtual desktops are not moved.
- Where the window was is kept until the Stream Deck app or the plugin restarts.
Privacy
The plugin reads where your windows are and their titles only on your PC. Nothing is sent anywhere. Full details: Privacy Policy.
Troubleshooting
| The key shows | What it means |
press to undo (green) | The window is where this key put it. A press puts it back where it was before. |
NONE / no window | The window in front is none the key may move (the desktop, the taskbar or the Stream Deck app). Click the window you want to move, then press the key. |
ADMIN / can't move | Windows refused: the program runs as administrator. |
MOVED / not exact | The window moved, but the program keeps a minimum size, so it is larger than the zone. |
FULLSCREEN | The window fills the whole screen without a title bar (a full-screen game or video), so it is left as it is. Leave full screen in the program first. |
BUSY | The program does not answer at the moment. Try again when it responds. |
not open | No window of the chosen program (with those words in its title) is open. |
1 screen | Next Screen needs a second screen. |
-- / not connected | The screen chosen in the settings is not connected now. Choose another screen, or the screen the window is on. |
check W | A Custom Position number cannot be used. X and Y: 0 or more; Width and Height: more than 0 (percent: up to 100). |
Compatibility
Windows 10 or later (tested on Windows 11), Stream Deck 6.9 or later. Works on keys.
