Startup Apps Keys for Windows

See and switch your Windows startup apps from Stream Deck

To turn startup programs off or on from a Stream Deck, add Startup Apps Keys for Windows: a Startup Toggle key switches one entry you choose with a press. Other keys count your startup apps (such as 7/11) and show NEW with the name when a program adds itself to start with Windows.

What you can do

How it works

  1. Install the plugin from the Elgato Marketplace. In the Stream Deck app, drag Startup Apps onto a key to see the count.
  2. Drag Startup Toggle onto a key, open its settings and choose an entry in the list. Press to switch it off, press again to switch it on.
  3. Drag New Startup App onto a key. It shows 0 until a program registers itself to start with Windows; press it once you have seen the NEW entry.

Off or on takes effect the next time you sign in to Windows.

Questions

How do I turn off a startup program with a Stream Deck?

Add a Startup Toggle key, open its settings and choose the entry. Press the key to switch it off; press again to switch it on. The change takes effect the next time you sign in to Windows.

Can it tell me when a program adds itself to startup?

Yes. A New Startup App key shows NEW and the program's name when something registers itself in the Run registry keys or the Startup folders, while its key is on a page that is showing. What was registered meanwhile shows as NEW when the page is shown again.

Why is the number lower than in Task Manager?

Task Manager also lists the startup tasks of Store apps. The plugin covers the classic startup entries (Run registry keys and Startup folders) and does not read Store apps in this version.

Can it switch entries for all users?

Those entries are shown on the keys, marked needs admin. Switching them needs administrator rights, and the plugin never asks for them.

Can it remove an entry, or add one?

No. It only switches entries off and on, so the entry itself (its command or shortcut file) is never edited.
