Top Process for Windows

See which app is using the most CPU or memory, right on your Stream Deck

To see which app is slowing your PC, add Top Process for Windows and put a Top CPU or Top Memory key on your Stream Deck: the key names the app that uses the most right now. When the PC gets slow you know the culprit before you even open Task Manager, and one press opens Task Manager when you want to act.

Get it on the Elgato Marketplace

Stream Deck plugin · Works on Windows 10 or later with the Stream Deck app 6.9 or later.

What you can do

How it works

  1. Install the plugin from the Elgato Marketplace. In the Stream Deck app, drag Top CPU or Top Memory onto a key. It works at once.
  2. For App Watch, select the key and pick the app from the running apps.
  3. Optionally set the limit at which the key turns red. Press the key to open Task Manager.

CPU is read every 2 seconds and averaged over about 6 seconds, so the value does not jump.

Questions

How do I see which app is using the most CPU on my Stream Deck?

Drag Top CPU onto a key. It shows the name of the app that uses the most CPU now and its share of all cores, updated every 2 seconds. Add Top Memory for the app that holds the most memory.

Can it close the app that is slowing my PC down?

It shows the name, and a press opens Task Manager, where you decide yourself. The plugin only reads: it does not end, slow down or change any app.

Why are the numbers a little different from Task Manager?

The key groups processes by program file name and averages CPU over about 6 seconds, while Task Manager groups in its own way and shows the latest second or so. Memory is the private working set, so the numbers are close, not identical.

Can I watch one specific app?

Yes. App Watch shows the CPU share and memory of one app you pick from the running apps, and says "not running" when it is closed.

Does it show GPU, disk or network use per app?

It shows CPU and memory per app. GPU, disk and network use per app are not shown.
