Log Watcher for Windows

A Stream Deck key that turns red when your log shows an error

To be alerted when an error appears in a log file on Windows, add Log Watcher for Windows to your Stream Deck and point its Watch Log key at the file. When a new line with an error appears, the key turns red and shows how many error lines there are, for build logs, backup logs, game server logs and your own scripts.

Questions

How do I get alerted when an error appears in a log file on Windows?

Put a Watch Log key on your Stream Deck and enter the log file. When a new line matching the error pattern (by default error, fail or exception) is written, the key turns red and shows how many error lines there are.

Can it follow logs that start a new file every day?

Yes. Enter the folder, or the folder with a name pattern such as *.log, and the key follows the newest matching file.

Why are old errors in the file not counted?

That is on purpose: when you set up the key it starts at the end of the file and counts only lines added after that. A file that appears later is read from its first line.

Can it show the progress of a copy or a build?

Yes. The Last Line action shows the latest line of a log on the key, and an optional pattern shows only the lines you want, such as progress lines.

A line like 0 errors is counted. How do I skip it?

Enter an ignore pattern, for example \b0 errors, or your own error pattern such as \bERROR\b|FATAL.

Does it change my log file?

No. The log file is only read, never changed, and nothing is sent anywhere.
