A live cab display and button box for Train Sim World on your Stream Deck
To see your speed against the speed limit, the next limit and the next signal in Train Sim World, add Cab Deck for Train Sim World, add -HTTPAPI to the game's launch options in Steam and drag its Speed & Limit, Next Speed Limit and Next Signal keys onto your Stream Deck. The keys update live while you drive TSW 6 or TSW 7, and a press sounds the horn, acknowledges the AWS or pulls the emergency brake by working the cab control in the game itself, so you skip the key binding setup.
Stream Deck plugin · Works on Windows 10 or later with the Stream Deck app 6.9 or later and Train Sim World 6 or Train Sim World 7 on PC, started with -HTTPAPI, on the same PC.
What you can do
Drive to the limit: your speed and the speed limit where the train is, in mph or km/h, both turning red as you go over it.
Brake on time: the next speed limit ahead and how far it is, amber when it is lower and green when higher, and the aspect of the next signal in its color with the distance to it.
Read the cab: the throttle notch as the game's own HUD shows it (a percent without notches, braking notches on a combined handle), the reverser, and the train brake handle with the cab brake gauge (both needles) when the train has one, in bar or psi.
Cab buttons on keys: horn, safety acknowledge, sander or bell, held while you hold the key and back at rest when you let go, from the cab you drive. The safety acknowledge key flashes when the train's system asks (UK AWS, German PZB, US alerter) and turns red on a brake demand.
Emergency brake like the plunger in the cab: a press applies it and it stays applied; a release key takes it off.
Any control of your train: pick it from a list in a Custom Control, such as the doors, then hold it, toggle it or set it to a value with a press.
No key binding setup: each press works the cab control in the game itself, and the keys show what the game reports, also when you use the mouse or a controller. A white frame shows the game took your press.
Know where you are: the name and platform of the next station ahead and how far it is, and the time of day in the game with the service you drive. In English and Japanese.
Runs entirely on your PC and talks only to Train Sim World on the same PC. Nothing is sent over the internet.
How it works
Install the plugin from the Elgato Marketplace.
In Steam, right-click Train Sim World, choose Properties and add -HTTPAPI to the Launch Options (Epic Games: add it to the game's additional command line arguments).
Start the game and drag the keys you want onto your Stream Deck. They connect by themselves and find the game's key file on their own in Steam, Epic Games and Microsoft Store folders.
The Status line in a key's settings shows whether the game is found, your train and the control a Cab Button uses.
Nothing in the game's files is changed; if your Documents folder is somewhere unusual, paste the text of CommAPIKey.txt into the API key field of any key's settings.
Borderless Fullscreen Keys: Make a windowed game borderless fullscreen with one Stream Deck key, and put it back with another press.
Cockpit Gauges for War Thunder: Show War Thunder airspeed, altitude, fuel, engine temperatures and tank crew live on Stream Deck keys.
Crosshair Overlay for Games: Show a crosshair in the center of your screen over windowed and borderless games from a Stream Deck key.
Game Key Guard for Windows: Turn off the Windows key and Alt+Tab while you play with one Stream Deck key; press again to turn them back on.
Live Cockpit for X-Plane 12: Switch X-Plane 12 gear, flaps, autopilot and lights from Stream Deck keys that show their real state.
Race Deck for Assetto Corsa: Show Assetto Corsa fuel laps left, tyres, a live delta, TC, ABS and brake bias live on Stream Deck keys.
Questions
How do I show the speed limit and next signal on my Stream Deck in Train Sim World?
Add -HTTPAPI to the game's Launch Options in Steam (or its additional command line arguments in Epic Games), start the game, and drag Speed & Limit, Next Speed Limit and Next Signal of Cab Deck for Train Sim World onto your Stream Deck. The keys connect by themselves and show your speed, the limit, the next limit ahead and the next signal with their distances.
Do I need to set up key bindings or install a mod?
No. Each press works the cab control in the game itself, so you skip the key binding setup, and nothing in the game's files is changed.
Does it work with Train Sim World 6 and Train Sim World 7?
Yes, with TSW 6 or TSW 7 on a Windows PC, and the keys find the game's key file in Steam, Epic Games and Microsoft Store folders. It does not work on Xbox or PlayStation.
The horn key says not on this train. Why?
Each train names its controls itself. The Cab Button looks for the game's own input names and the usual control names; when a train uses another one, pick it in a Custom Control instead.
How do I release the emergency brake?
Put a second Cab Button on your Stream Deck and choose Emergency brake release in its settings. The Emergency brake key itself only applies the brake, so it is never released by mistake.
Does the safety acknowledge key flash on every train?
It flashes when the train reports that its safety system asks for an acknowledgement (the UK AWS, the German PZB or a US alerter). On a train that does not report it, a press still works the control; only the flashing is missing.
Limits
Windows PC only (Windows 10 or later), with the game on the same PC as your Stream Deck; not Xbox or PlayStation.
Controls are named differently on every train. Cab Buttons find them by the game's own input names and the usual control names; when a train uses another name, the key says not on this train and a Custom Control can use it.
Trains report different values: some send no brake gauge (the key shows the handle only), no next speed limit, or no acknowledge request (the key still presses, without flashing).
The next station is the next platform ahead on the track, which may be one your service does not call at.
A Custom Control belongs to the train it was set up for.
