Lock your mic and speaker volume from a Stream Deck key
To stop Zoom, Discord, games or drivers from changing your microphone volume, add Mic Volume Lock for Windows to your Stream Deck and press the key to lock the level. When another program changes the level, the plugin puts it back, usually within a second, and the key shows how many times it did.
Stream Deck plugin · Works on Windows 11 with the Stream Deck app 6.9 or later.
What you can do
Keep your level: press to lock at a set level, or hold to lock at the level the device has right now.
Lock what you need: the default recording device, the default communications device, the default playback device, or one input or output.
Follow Windows: when you change the default device in Windows, the lock moves to the new device.
Lock each input on its own: a device that shows two inputs in Windows lists both, each with its own lock.
Get unmuted again: optionally unmute the device when another program mutes it.
Switch levels in one press: Level Scenes such as Stream 80% or Call 65%, with the scene in use marked.
Use the Stream Deck + dial: turn to change the locked level, push to lock or unlock.
Set it once: locks hold again after Stream Deck or the PC restarts.
Make it yours: five looks per key (Classic, Neon, Ring, Bars, Solid), in English and Japanese. Works on your PC only and sends nothing anywhere.
How it works
Install the plugin from the Elgato Marketplace. In the Stream Deck app, drag Volume Lock onto a key.
In the key's settings, choose the device (the default recording device is chosen at first) and the level to lock at, or the level when pressed.
Press the key. It says LOCKED, and each time another program changes the level, the key counts it as it puts the level back.
Windows tells the plugin when the volume of a locked device changes; the plugin knows its own changes and puts back only changes made by other programs.
How do I stop Zoom or Discord from changing my mic volume?
Put a Volume Lock key on your Stream Deck, choose your microphone and the level, and press the key. When an app changes the level, Mic Volume Lock puts it back, usually within a second, and the key shows how many times.
Can I lock my speakers or headphones too?
Yes. You can lock the default playback device or one chosen output, in the same way as a microphone.
What happens if a program keeps changing the level over and over?
The plugin puts the level back each time, and if a program changes it 7 times in 10 seconds, the lock pauses and the key says PAUSED instead of fighting it. Turn off the automatic mic adjustment in that program, then press the key twice (off, on).
Does the lock stay on after I restart my PC?
Yes. The locks are kept in the plugin's settings and hold again when Stream Deck or the PC starts again.
Can I use a Stream Deck + dial?
Yes. Turn the dial to change the locked level by 1, 2 or 5% per notch, and push or touch it to lock or unlock.
Is anything sent over the internet?
No. Mic Volume Lock works on your PC only and nothing is sent anywhere.
Limits
When Stream Deck closes, the locks stop and the levels stay where they are.
Switch a lock off before you delete its key.
If a program keeps changing the level (7 times in 10 seconds), the lock pauses; turn off the automatic mic adjustment in that program.
If a driver keeps its own level, the key says CAN'T SET; check the device's own software or driver settings.
Windows only. Made for Windows 11 with the Stream Deck app 6.9 or later; Windows 10 is not listed as supported.
