Monitor brightness and warmth on your Stream Deck, on a sunrise and sunset schedule
To change your monitor brightness from a Stream Deck, add Monitor Brightness for Windows and put a Brightness key or dial on your Stream Deck, or let the Auto key change brightness and color warmth at sunrise and sunset. You set day and night once, the plugin follows the sun in your city (or times you choose) with a slow fade, and each monitor gets its value back after the PC wakes from sleep.
Stream Deck plugin · Works on Windows 11 with the Stream Deck app 6.9 or later, with external monitors that have DDC/CI turned on.
What you can do
Follow the sun: sunrise and sunset for 220+ cities or your own coordinates, worked out on your PC, or fixed times, with a slow fade.
See what comes next: the Auto key shows the brightness now and the next change, such as 18:42 -> 30%.
Take over by hand any time: a manual change holds the schedule until its next change (MANUAL until 18:42), and the Auto key brings it back at once.
Keep your values after sleep: when the PC wakes up, or a monitor is plugged in again, each monitor gets its last value back. Your monitor buttons still work.
Control one monitor or all, each in its own range: set, step or switch between two values, for brightness or contrast.
Turn a Stream Deck + dial for brightness, and push it to switch between automatic and manual.
Make the screen warmer, from 6500K down to 2700K, and save brightness, contrast and warmth for every monitor as a Scene.
Name your monitors and pick one of four looks: Classic, Ring, Solid or Sky. English and Japanese.
Works on your PC only. Nothing is sent anywhere, and your original colors come back when you switch warmth off, stop Auto or close Stream Deck.
How it works
Install the plugin from the Elgato Marketplace. Turn on DDC/CI in each monitor's menu if it is off.
Drag Brightness onto a key, choose the monitor (or all monitors) and what a press does: set a value, step up or down, or switch between two values.
For the schedule, drag Auto onto a key, choose set times or sunrise and sunset for your city, set the day and night values, and press the key.
Brightness is sent over DDC/CI, the control channel inside the video cable; warmth changes the color table Windows sends to each display.
How do I change my monitor brightness with a Stream Deck?
Drag a Brightness key onto your Stream Deck, choose the monitor (or all monitors), and choose what a press does: set a value, step up or down, or switch between two values. On a Stream Deck +, the Brightness Dial changes it as you turn.
Can it dim my monitor automatically at night?
Yes. Add the Auto key, choose sunrise and sunset for your city (220+ cities or your own coordinates) or set times, and set a day and a night brightness and warmth. The change is gradual over the time you set, from 0 to 120 minutes.
Does my brightness come back after sleep?
Yes. When the PC wakes up, or a monitor is plugged in or switched on again, the plugin writes each monitor's value again: the one the schedule wants when it runs, otherwise the last value you chose.
Can I still use the buttons on my monitor?
Yes. Once a scheduled change has finished, the plugin writes nothing until the next change, so a change made with the monitor's own buttons stays until then.
Does it work with a laptop screen?
It works with external monitors that have DDC/CI turned on. Built-in laptop screens are not supported in this version.
Limits
External monitors with DDC/CI turned on. Laptop screens are not supported. Some docks, KVM switches and adapters do not pass DDC/CI.
Windows limits how warm a display can get, and may refuse color changes while HDR is on.
Some monitors lock contrast in certain picture modes.
If Windows Night light is also on, the screen is warmed twice.
Requires Windows 11 and the Stream Deck app 6.9 or later. Not for Mac.
