Display Layout Switcher

Switch your multi-monitor layout from a Stream Deck key

To switch between monitor setups from a Stream Deck, add Display Layout Switcher, save each layout (for example Desk, Game or TV) and put a key for each one on your Stream Deck. Press a key and Windows changes which screens are on, their positions, resolution, refresh rate and HDR in one go, and a change that blacks out your screen undoes itself after 15 seconds unless you keep it.

Stream Deck plugin · Works on Windows 10 or later with the Stream Deck app 6.9 or later.

What you can do

How it works

  1. Install the plugin from the Elgato Marketplace. Arrange your monitors in Windows the way you want, drag Save Profile onto a key, give it a name such as Desk, and press it.
  2. Save your other layouts the same way, for example Game with only the fast monitor on, or TV.
  3. Drag Switch Profile onto a key and pick the layout. Press twice to switch, then press once more within 15 seconds to keep it.

Windows checks each layout before it is applied, and a kept layout is also saved in Windows' own display settings.

Questions

How do I switch between monitor setups with a Stream Deck?

Arrange your monitors in Windows, then press a Save Profile key with a name such as Desk; do the same for your other setups. Put a Switch Profile key for each saved layout on your Stream Deck. Press it twice to switch, and once more within 15 seconds to keep the new layout.

What happens if a layout leaves my screen black?

Wait 15 seconds. If you do not press the key to keep a new layout, the previous layout comes back by itself, so a refresh rate a monitor does not accept undoes itself.

Can I turn off my second monitor for gaming and turn it back on later?

Yes. Save one layout with both monitors on and one with only the gaming monitor on, and switch between them with a key each, or with one Cycle Profiles key.

Does it need administrator rights?

No. It uses the same Windows function as the Windows Settings app, as your user.

What is saved in a layout?

Which monitors are on, their positions, resolutions, refresh rates, rotation, HDR and the primary display. Display scaling, color profiles, night light and brightness are not part of a layout; Windows keeps those per monitor.
