Desktop Toggles for Windows

Switch the Windows settings you change most, one Stream Deck key each

To switch dark mode, taskbar auto-hide, desktop icons, hidden files or file extensions from a Stream Deck, add Desktop Toggles for Windows and put a key for each on your Stream Deck. Clean Desktop hides the desktop icons and the taskbar before screen sharing or recording, the next press puts them back as they were, and every key shows the current state Windows reports.

What you can do

How it works

  1. Install the plugin from the Elgato Marketplace. In the Stream Deck app, drag an action such as Dark Mode or Clean Desktop onto a key.
  2. Press the key. It shows the state Windows reports now; a green frame means the setting is on.
  3. Press again to switch back. For Clean Desktop, the second press puts the icons and taskbar back as they were.

The plugin changes the same settings as Windows Settings and File Explorer, and Windows shows the new state there.

Questions

How do I switch dark mode on and off with a Stream Deck button?

Drag Dark Mode onto a key. A press switches to dark mode and the next press back to light. In its settings choose apps and Windows (also the taskbar and Start) or apps only.

How do I hide my desktop icons and taskbar before screen sharing?

Press a Clean Desktop key. It hides the desktop icons and the taskbar, and the next press puts them back as they were before the first press.

Does Clean Desktop delete or move my files?

No. It only hides the icons; the files stay on the desktop. A second press shows them again.

Yes. Hidden Files & Extensions shows or hides both in File Explorer, or only one of them if you choose, and open File Explorer windows refresh.

Dark Mode switches the apps that follow Windows. Apps with their own theme setting keep their own choice; set them to follow the system theme.
