Draw on your screen and highlight your cursor from a Stream Deck key
To draw on your screen while you present, add Draw on Screen and Highlight to your Stream Deck and press the Draw on Screen key to write over any app with the mouse. The same plugin has keys for a cursor ring or glow, a spotlight, a laser pointer, click ripples and a magnifier, so viewers in Teams or Zoom can follow you when you share or record your whole screen.
Stream Deck plugin · Works on Windows 10 or later with Stream Deck 6.9 or later. No administrator rights needed and nothing else to install.
What you can do
Draw over any app: choose a pen or a see-through marker in thin, medium or thick, in red, yellow, green, blue, pink, orange, white or black.
Draw shapes fast: hold Shift for a straight line, Ctrl for an arrow and Ctrl and Shift for a box; right-click takes back the last line.
Keep presenting while you draw: the keyboard stays with the app in front, so arrow keys and a presentation remote still turn your slides.
Keep the lines and click through them: set the second press to leave the lines on screen and use the app below.
Highlight the cursor: a ring, a soft glow or a disc, in 10 colors and 4 sizes.
Spotlight what matters: dim everything except a soft circle at the pointer, or except the window in front.
Point with a laser dot with a fading tail, and show left and right clicks as ripples in their own colors.
Magnify what is under the pointer with a round lens at 1.5x, 2x, 3x or 4x.
Switch fast: one key per color or tool, effects work together, stay on when you change Stream Deck pages, and Esc twice within 0.6 seconds turns every effect off.
How it works
Install the plugin from the Elgato Marketplace. In the Stream Deck app, drag the effects you want onto keys: Draw on Screen, Cursor Highlight, Spotlight, Laser Pointer, Click Ripples and Magnifier.
Press a key to turn its effect on and press it again to turn it off; the key shows ON in the effect's color while it is on.
To draw, press the Draw on Screen key and draw with the left mouse button. To show it to others, share or record your whole screen.
The effects are drawn on the screen itself, only on your PC, and nothing is sent anywhere.
App Priority Keys for Windows: Set a program's priority from a key, high for a game or low for a background job, and keep it after restarts.
Browser Profile Launcher: Open Chrome, Edge, Brave or Firefox in the right profile with one key, skipping the profile picker.
Checklist Keys: Keep a pre-stream or daily checklist on your keys, with progress, saved check marks and a daily reset.
Clipboard History for Windows: Paste your recent copies, text and images, from Stream Deck keys, and pin the snippets you reuse.
Color Picker for Windows: Copy the HEX, RGB or HSL value of any pixel on your screen with one Stream Deck key.
Cursor Lock Keys for Windows: Lock the mouse to one monitor or to a game window with one key, so it stops slipping onto the other screen.
Questions
How do I draw on my screen during a presentation with a Stream Deck?
Drag the Draw on Screen key onto your Stream Deck, press it, and draw over any app with the left mouse button. Your keyboard stays with the app in front, so arrow keys and a presentation remote still turn your slides.
Will viewers see the drawing in Teams or Zoom?
Yes, when you share or record your whole screen, because the effects are drawn on the screen itself.
How do I stop drawing and clear the lines?
Press the key again, or press Esc once. By default the lines are erased; in the key's settings you can choose to keep the lines and use the app below. In a slide show Esc also ends the show, so use the key there.
Does it block my mouse?
Only the pen takes clicks, while you draw. The pointer effects let your clicks through to your apps as usual.
How do I turn everything off without the Stream Deck?
Press Esc twice within 0.6 seconds and every effect turns off. Closing the Stream Deck app also takes every effect off the screen.
Does it work on a work PC?
The effects are drawn by Windows PowerShell, which comes with Windows. If your company limits PowerShell, ask your IT team to allow Windows PowerShell for the Stream Deck app.
Limits
To show the effects in a meeting, share or record the whole screen; sharing a single app window shows only that window, without the effects.
Games in exclusive full-screen mode draw over the effects; their borderless (windowed full-screen) mode works.
The pen takes your clicks while you draw.
Windows only (Windows 10 or later). Some company PCs that limit PowerShell need IT approval first.
