See SSD health, life left and drive temperature on your Stream Deck keys
To see your SSD temperature and health on a Stream Deck, add SSD Temp & Wear for Windows and drag a Drive Health or Drive Temperature key onto your Stream Deck: it shows your system drive (C:) right away, with Good, Caution or Bad, the life left in % and the live temperature with a graph. It reads the drive's own SMART data straight from Windows as a normal user, for NVMe SSDs (M.2), SATA SSDs and SATA hard drives.

| The key shows | When |
|---|---|
| Good | None of the warnings below. |
| Caution | Life left is 10% or less, the spare blocks are at the drive's limit, or a hard drive has reallocated, pending or unreadable sectors (the count is shown). Back up and plan a replacement. |
| Bad | The drive reports a failure warning itself, the spare blocks of an NVMe SSD fell below the drive's own limit, or the life left of a SATA SSD reached 0%. Back up your data now. |
Readings are refreshed every 10 seconds for NVMe SSDs, every 60 seconds for SATA SSDs and every 10 minutes for hard drives. A drive that stops answering shows "no answer" instead of old values.

Yes. Add the Drive Temperature key of SSD Temp & Wear for Windows: it shows the drive temperature with a short graph, turns yellow 5 degrees before your alert temperature and red at it. It works with NVMe SSDs, SATA SSDs and SATA hard drives, with no other monitoring program running.
Add the Drive Health key. It shows Good, Caution or Bad and the life left in %, from the drive's own SMART data: life left, spare blocks, reallocated and pending sectors, and the warning the drive itself reports.
Back up your data. Caution means life left is 10% or less, the spare blocks are at the drive's limit, or a hard drive has reallocated, pending or unreadable sectors. Bad means the drive itself warns of failure, the spare blocks of an NVMe SSD fell below its limit, or the life left of a SATA SSD reached 0%.
The Data Written key shows the total your PC has written to the drive, in TB. Compare it with the endurance rating (TBW) on your drive's data sheet.
No. The plugin reads the drive data directly from Windows as a normal user. Nothing else needs to run.
No. Hard drives are read every 10 minutes, so they can spin down, and a hard drive that Windows has spun down is not woken up: the key keeps the last values it read (if any) and says asleep.
