Clipboard History for Windows

Paste your recent copies from Stream Deck keys

To get a clipboard history on a Stream Deck, add Clipboard History for Windows and drag History Slot onto a few keys side by side, each one showing a recent copy. Each key shows the first lines of a text or a thumbnail of an image, and one press pastes that item into the app in front of you.

Stream Deck plugin · Works on Windows 10 or later with the Stream Deck app 6.9 or later.

What you can do

How it works

  1. Install the plugin from the Elgato Marketplace. In the Stream Deck app, drag History Slot onto a few keys side by side.
  2. In each key's settings, set its Copy to 1, 2, 3 and so on. Copy something: key 1 shows it, and older copies move along.
  3. Press a key to paste its item into the app you are working in. Optionally add a Pause History key and a Clear History key.

A press puts the item back on the clipboard, with its formatting when it had some, and sends Ctrl+V to the app in front.

Questions

How do I paste my earlier copies from a Stream Deck?

Drag History Slot onto a few keys side by side and set their Copy to 1, 2, 3 and so on. Copy something and key 1 shows it, with older copies moving along. Press a key to paste its item into the app you are working in.

Can I paste without fonts and formatting?

Yes. Set the key to Paste as plain text and it puts only the text back, with fonts, colors and links dropped, then sends Ctrl+V.

Can I keep a snippet on a key?

Yes. Hold the key for 1 second to pin its item, or choose the item in the key's settings under Pinned item. New copies do not move it, and the history does not drop it.

Does it store my passwords?

Copies that an app flags as private to Windows, a flag password managers can set, are not stored. Text that looks like a password or an API key shows as dots on the key.

Where is my history kept, and can I delete it?

It stays on your PC, encrypted with your Windows account, and nothing is uploaded. Hold the Clear History key for 2 seconds to delete it, or set the history to be kept in memory only.
